Tenacious Tu-Tu - sounds like a PLAN! :)

this is a life-changing experience
it definitely is :)

joined the Project E.P.I.C. 2 for a charity event out at an Orang Asli Village in Kuala Kubu Baru. before i tell you how great it was, lemme show you what is E.P.I.C. :)

Embracing people without discrimination
Pride without arrogance
Integrity in all that we do say and think
Committed compassion to all

i am so glad that i was there that night when Madeline told us about this project, and subsequently signed up for it. the team works, the people, the sweats and sunburns. we really walked into the life of the orang asli there. those conversations we had, those happy faces of the kids, those acceptance of the residents :)

the situation was actually much better than what i had anticipated. they are somehow more literate, more civilized than how i once thought orang asli's lives were. however there's not much brick houses there. most of them built their own house by woods and bamboos. on the way of discovering the village, i saw pipes that channel spring water to their houses which means highly likely they had no water supply in the house, and there's no electricity in most of the deeper areas.

you might think i am exaggerating, but yes, that's the reality. in that small space of a bamboo house, there's no furnitures. there's no so call living room dining room and kitchen. it is all in one and one for all. and i was so afraid that i will break the bamboos floor when i stepped on it.

so what we did were walking around the whole village area, visiting them house by house, talked to the residents and socialized with them. through the conversations we got to understand how their lives were like, and in what way we can contribute to them. some of them were so shy, especially the kids. i remembered the kid in the first house we visited covered her face for that long that till the moment we left, i didn't got to see her face =d

oh wait, that's not all that we did. we helped them to clean up the areas too. yupp the gotong royong session, which is basically trash-picking all the way on lol. and mind you, the village is kinda on a hill, so yupp we climbed up and down the slopes for times. good chance to work out duhh :p

overall it was a really great event thanks to the EPIC teams :) i had fun meeting you guys and work along, and what not, you guys are just extraordinary people :)

again, thank you Madeline for inviting us, and thank you Jon Ming, the project leader. GO EPIC!
